Strategic Plan 2020-2024

Executive Summary

A strategic plan represents the most important foundations and mechanisms that help to build and develop the organizations, and that is why it is come to the attention of the Islamic University - Mogadishu - Somalia – to prepare a strategic plan at the top of its list priorities, to reflect the desire and strive to achieve a balance in its functions: university teaching, scientific research, community service, and achieve real and sustainable development of the country, as the plan expressed the university desire to the excellence, creativity, and commitment in its adopting the standard of quality and academic accreditation, and that appears in the formulation of the university vision, mission, objectives and the core values. The university will focus in the next phase – if Allah willing – through its plan to maximize these jobs efficiency and to build a strong partnership with the community as well as the continual development in its administrative and financial systems, and also improving and upgrading the university environment to expand the infrastructure and construction projects that represented by the university city project.

This strategic plan was highlighted a lot of issues including the university inception, its development and the environment in which it lived during the past 15 year, its colleges and departments, students, alumni and the university academic members supported by statistics and digital evidence. The plan also explained the basic assumptions of the university strategies and its needs based on the relevant stakeholders and priorities during the preparation of the plan and its implementation periods, the elements of success and the follow-up and evaluation mechanisms, and also it analyze the university strengths and weaknesses as well as its opportunities and threats that posed by its internal and external environments.

This strategic plan was set out on place in detail the strategic goals and objectives and the means necessary in a achieving these goals and objectives through the operational procedures followed and the persons responsible for the implementation with a performance measurement and indicators to the achievements of these goals associated with the specific time frame and it is presented through the strategic themes, and these themes are: university administration, and educational operation, scientific research, the university environment, community service, and construction projects.

This strategic plan looks forward to achieve six strategic objectives as follows:

First Goal: To develop and rehabilitate the university management and improve its corporate performance.

Strengthening the role of strategic planning in the university programs and its academic and administrative activities, the completion and development of the various university organizational structures, and set out on place a comprehensive and sophisticated job description at the university academic and administrative positions, and also the development of human, administrative and academic capabilities and develop of their skills and abilities, as well as the completion of the university’s systems and its academic regulations and activated them, documentation the rules and policies and support the computerization of the academic and administrative processes and enhance the transparency and develop the values of transparency and accountability and strengthening the academic role of the university and maintain it so as to achieve its global prestige.

 

Second Goal: To raise the level of academic programs at the university in accordance to the quality standards and bring new programs.

 

Development of academic programs and study plans to keep up with modern developments and commensurate with the current and future needs of the community, and enhance the university's ability to attract excellent students, and upgrading the academic members to achieve excellence in teaching field, and develop teaching and learning means and sources in proportion to the modern technological developments, and strengthen the foundations of the quality assurance and accreditation in all academic programs offered by the university.

 

The Third Goal: To raise the level of scientific research and graduate studies and linked them to the community issues and promote the applied scientific research.

Raise the level of scientific research, and bring new graduate programs, and develop the research skills and capabilities of university academic members, and directing the scientific research to the community service, and its scientific, educational, developmental issues, and to promote mutual cooperation in the preparation of the scientific researches.

 

Fourth Goal: To provide an effective and safe learning environment that fits the students’ needs and abilities, and contributes to the development of their knowledge and skills, and meets their aspirations.

 

Provide a rich learning and teaching environment that stimulates the collection, creativity and cognitive development, and promotes the students positive values and provision of adequate infrastructure that helps in securing the appropriate conditions for the educational process, and improve the level services that provided to the students and staff and promote the students participation in the sports activities and develop their skills and abilities.

 

Fifth Goal: To strengthen the role of the university in the community service and development.

 

Strengthen the foundations of cooperation between the university and the community, and to identify the areas in which the community needs to support and assist, and enhance the university image through its increased interaction with the community, and to promote and strengthen the university relationship with its graduates.

Goal Six: To start and complete the construction of the University City project.

Construction of the outer wall of the university headquarter, and build the colleges buildings, the administration building, and mosque, central library and its equipments with the scientific sources, the construction of halls and rooms of public lectures, seminars and conferences, and build the restaurant and its lounges, and the university dispensary and its affiliated clinics, and build and installed the university educational laboratories and experiments and build a housing buildings for the university academic members, students and others.
